Quality manager

ROLE SUMMARY

Reporting to the senior director for operations, the incumbent leads and directs a team that is responsible for manufacturing/assembly and customer quality as well as employee health, safety, and security (EHSS) for the assembly & technical areas. This role is responsible for strategic planning, establishing vision and direction for each area of responsibility as well as budget & cost management and employee relations. Working in close collaboration with the product development and global quality groups, the Manager, Quality leads the validation/control of assembly processes, manages inbound component/product inspections, quality issue identification & remediation, as well as coordinates service kits and voice of customer process.  

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the work of the quality team

  • Lead validation and control of assembly processes, including in-process assembly testing, auditing of table processes, and tool calibration

  • Manages the optimization of manufacturing/assembly operations with a goal to increase efficiency, profitability and product quality

  • Lead new product approval of internally assembled goods in adherence NPD team standards

  • Ensures that the standards of quality, efficiency and reliability of Riobel products on the market are respected and upheld

  • Implement and manage incoming product and component inspection plans

  • Ensure all assembly regulatory requirements are met and external audits are supported

  • Lead the voice of the customer process, including collect/analyze feedback (contact data, reviews, returns, etc.)

  • Drive containment/STCA, corrective actions and preventative actions and lead re-inspection after quality issue identified using global quality standards

  • Owns the service kits life cycle management process

  • Executes GPG EHSS standards for St. Jerome assembly & technical areas

  • Prepares schedules and detailed capital expenditure reports (CER) for large-scale projects

  • Promotes a positive and friendly work environment that encourages new ideas

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Technical or Manufacturing discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in the areas of Quality, Reliability and/or Product Development Engineering in a quality driven, durable goods environment, preferably with consumer products
  • Demonstrated success in driving improvement and leading change throughout an organization.
  • Ability to establish a clear vision for Quality and continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of test systems (electronic\electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, etc.)
  • Knowledge of machining, manufacturing and assembly materials and technique
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written)
  • Process/cost improvement experience as well as managing capital projects
  • Experience with ERP system (SAP preferred)
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology is preferred asset
